There was once a boy named Jack who was the best tooth-loser in his school. He'd lost eight teeth! But there was also a boy named Rex who teased Jack about everything — especially his missing teeth. "Gappy!" Rex would laugh. "Toothless!"
Jack stopped smiling. He stopped showing his teeth. And one night, he left his tooth under the pillow with a note: "Dear Tooth Fairy, I don't even want a coin. I just want my smile back."
The Tooth Fairy read the note and flew to Rex's house. She didn't leave a coin. She left a mirror.
In the morning, Rex looked in the mirror and saw himself frowning. "Why do I tease Jack?" he wondered. "Because I'm afraid they'll tease me." And for the first time, Rex felt sorry — really sorry.
The next day, Rex gave Jack his own favourite marble. "Sorry," he said. "Your teeth look cool, actually. Mine are falling out next week. Any tips?" And Jack smiled his gappy smile — and this time, it stayed.
