The Teapot Who Wanted to Dance

A free story for little kids · read aloud by parents

Once upon a warm Wednesday, a little blue teapot named Tilly lived in a cupboard and dreamed of dancing. Every morning she watched the toast pop and the spoons tap-tap-tap to a tune only teapots could hear.

One day Tilly boiled herself up extra brave, hopped off the shelf, and twirled across the counter. Clink-clink! She spun past the sugar bowl and bowed to the bread box.

The other cups gasped. 'Teapots don't dance!' they whispered. But the kettle just laughed a steamy laugh and joined in. Soon the whole kitchen was swaying.

From that day on, whenever the house was quiet, the dishes held a tiny ball — and Tilly, the blue teapot, was always the first to curtsy.
